Pronol Prosecco Spumante DOC

20 June, 07:07, by nita
At the beginning of the 20th century, the Pronol family from Valdobbiadene, in the Province of Treviso, Italy, was already producing wines, liqueurs and spirits renowned all over the eastern Veneto region. Brand name Pronol today takes up those traditions and old artisan recipes anew and offers a refined selection of products.

Prosecco Spumante Doc

Prosecco wine has always been synonymous with laughter and romance. Harvested a little early, this variety is characterised by small round berries that are yellow-green in colour, with a flavour that is gently sharp and fragrant. Processed in a low temperature environment, this variety produces a wine that is highly fragrant and that becomes sparkling after second fermentation in steel containers.

The Pronol brand includes grappas, wines and liquors that characterized the story and the tradition of winemaking and distillation in Veneto.

The majority of Global knives are ground to a straight point rather than the western style of beveling the edge. To balance their knives Global uses a hollow handle that is filled with just the right amount of sand to create the correct balance. The handle has its own unique darkened dimples for a non-slip grip. Because the knives are very light weight they reduce hand fatigue. Global knives have a smooth contour and seamless, all stainless construction that eliminates food and dirt traps. Global knifes are forged in Japan from CROMOVA 18 Stainless Steel, a blend of 18 percent chromium for good stain resistance plus molybdenum and vanadium which gives excellent edge retention

Les Folies Fromage Fruit Spreads for Cheese

13 June, 11:21, by nita

Good cheese is traditionally served as a separate course, on a plateau du fromage, with the addition of good crackers or fresh, crusty bread. But cheese also has a deep relationship with wine and each different pairing and brings out a new and surprising flavor from both. Fruit also complements cheese. For instance, a good cheddar on top of an apple slice creates an entirely new flavor level. Les Folies Fromage (The Cheese Follies) by Guillaume et Lesgards has created four wonderful fruit spreads specifically designed for certain types of cheese. Made in the French Pyrénées, these spreads will add a new dimension to your old favorites.

Stockli Dehydrator

13 June, 09:05, by nita Tags: ,
“Dehydrating a variety of foods and herbs is an excellent, natural way of preserving their goodness and concentrating and enhancing their flavours. Make your own banana chips, dried mango or jerky (sorry vegetarians!) in this dehydrator and you will notice the difference in flavour from shop bought products.

The design of the Stockli facilitates temperature controlled drying throughout its three deep trays with the option of adding up to seven further trays to increase the drying area. It dries evenly throughout the tray area with variable, thermostatically controlled drying temperatures from 86° to 158° while using an economical (maximum) 600 watts of power. It features a safety cut-out with automatic reset to prevent accidental damage from overheating in the event that airflow is obstructed for any reason. The 33.5 cm circular base provides a compact footprint for this dehydrator making it ideal where space is at a premium while still offering a substantial drying area. The baffles on the fan distribute heat more evenly with a clever series of concentric outlets in the base. The lid has a useful time indicator that you can set by hand to indicate either start or finish time for the produce you are drying and the instruction manual gives an easy guide to the art of dehydrating with recipes and drying times.

The 12-hour integral timer on this version allows precise control of drying times for your favourite ingredients.”

Fasting fakir flummoxes physicians

13 June, 07:17, by nita
Doctors and experts are baffled by an Indian hermit who claims not to have eaten or drunk anything for several decades – but is still in perfect health.

Prahlad Jani, a holy man, or fakir, who is over 70 years old, has just spent 10 days under constant observation in Sterling Hospital, in the western Indian city of Ahmedabad.

During that time, he did not consume anything and “neither did he pass urine or stool”, according to the hospital’s deputy superintendent, Dr Dinesh Desai.

Yet he is in fine mental and physical fettle, say doctors.

Most people can live without food for several weeks, with the body drawing on its fat and protein stores. But the average human can survive for only three to four days without water.

Followers of Indian holy men and ascetics have often ascribed extraordinary powers to them, but such powers are seldom subject to scientific inspection.
